Following a well-deserved break early in December, my 2nd Guide Joe guided an angler called Mike, who had travelled down from Hampshire for two days during the second week of winter. To say that Mike had purchased ‘all of the right gear’ would be an understatement, as I think my previous posts over the years might have cost this lovely bloke a fair few quid!
Having chatted to him on the phone, Mike had made it clear to me that “he just wanted to learn as much as possible” and that “catching a bass would be a bonus…” Well, as much as Joe and I thoroughly enjoy teaching and instructing our clients how to cast, retrieve specific lures, how to spot potential marks, etc, etc. the ultimate objective is to see our clients catch a bass!
So, after visiting and fishing a number of venues, all in conjunction with utilising different lure types including surface lures (Patchinko 100) , creature baits, and soft twitch bait style lures (OSP Dolive Stick), Mike was rewarded with his new Personal Best bass at 54cm.

Joe’s 8 Hour sessions in January, February, March, April and December are priced as follows:
- 1 angler – £150
- 2 anglers – £250
- 3 anglers – £300
NOTE: A deposit of £50 is required to secure each position.
Joe’s 8 Hour sessions between May and November are priced as follows:
- 1 angler – £180
- 2 anglers – £270
- 3 anglers – £300
NOTE: A deposit of £50 is required to secure each position.
Our popular 3 Day Packages are for 3 people (you do not need to know one another, and you can come as a singleton to join the other two anglers) and incorporate 6x 4 hour guided sessions over 3 days (and nights) of fishing.
The price includes 3 nights BB accommodation (a Double en-suite room per person) at the excellent Chillington House – Bed and Breakfast Hotel.
