NOTE: My 2nd Guide Joe’s 2026 Availability can be found via the link here: 2nd Guide Joe’s 2026 Availability. Note also, that he will be completing a limited number of professionally guided sessions in January, February, and March, so if a winter session chasing the bass on lures is appealing then please do get in touch. For a taste of how good the fishing can be in winter, you only need to visit my sister website and read about the catches I achieved last winter here: Marc Cowling – Bass Lure Fishing.
If you’re not on social media (Facebook in particular) then you could be forgiven for thinking my 2nd Guide Joe and I had packed up for the year! In truth however, in addition to Joe fulfilling his guiding commitments to aplomb (as you’ll discover from the catalogue of catches below), I have also been guiding just as much, as well as completing a fair amount of fishing on my days off.
My personal catches will appear on my Marc Cowling – Bass Lure Fishing website in the next fortnight as I begin to switch my attention away from the guiding during my annual hiatus.
Separate Autumn Updates
As you may have guessed, there will be a follow up post on this site detailing My Client Catches over the past 6 weeks or so. But before I delve into Joe’s abundance of catches over this period, you can find a blog post covering his excellent array of Client Catches from January through to early-October here: ‘My 2nd Guide’s Client Catches so far in 2025‘.
So, in addition to the 74cm ‘beast’ that he guided his client (Brian) onto just recently (a story you can read about and listen to here – 2nd Guide Client Catches – 74cm – The Largest Ever!) something that has been particularly impressive is not only his consistency, but also the multitude of lures utilised, alongside type of venue and the variety of conditions he has succeeded on.
Below is an updated gallery of the Client Catches. A healthy percentage of them were achieved while using a lure that is quickly gaining ‘cult status’ with lure nuts like you and I – the Megabass Sleeper Craw. But the Savage Gear Gravity Stick (Pulse Tail), Sawamura One Up Shad, and IMA Komomo have also been highly effective within the estuaries and open coastal beaches, both by day and night, and in dull or sunny overhead conditions.
