You wait for a bus, and then two (or three!) come along at once – an apt conclusion given that another one of my clients (a brilliant bloke called David) landed bass of 60cm and 71cm within the same night just recently – the former of which can be seen swimming away below.
Furthermore, as you’ll read in the next blog post – my 2nd Guide Joe has also now achieved this remarkable feat with his client Brian. During that truly amazing session bass of 61cm and 74cm respectively were landed and of course released. Yes 74cm!!! Officially the largest bass that a client has ever landed at South Devon Bass Guide…
To place all of this into context, catching two bass of this size by the same person, within the same guided session is something that had only ever occurred once before, when a client (Tom of TC Lures) landed bass of 66cm and 73cm on one of his self-designed and built needlefish lures. Moreover, I have only accomplished this milestone twice in my personal bass lure angling career.
More Creatures I’m afraid…
If dragging a crustacean imitation lure along the seabed really isn’t your thing then look away now… However, even if your intrigue is only ever so slightly ‘piqued’ by these lures and this method, you only need to flick through my blog and social media posts from over the past 6 weeks on this website, in addition the remarkable winter I experienced with the Megabass Sleeper Craw (via my Marc Cowling – Bass Lure Fishing Sister Website) to appreciate their effectiveness.
Yes, these two beautiful bass, one of which (above) was a colossal 71cm and the other measuring 60cm were both tempted by the Sleeper Craw within a 15 minute spell of quite remarkable fishing and guiding – the description of which you can find below via the downloadable Audio Clip:
