My Client Catches – A Very Special Session…

The 15th bass of 70cm or above for a client, in addition to a 63cm specimen during the same, ‘Creature Crazy’ session. Wow! This is still my reaction, even after having a few days to digest what my client Neil achieved via purposefully ‘dragging and pausing’ none other the Megabass Sleeper Craw through 18″ of exceptionally murky water.

Did I go home and purchase a few more Sleeper Craws after this session? Damn right I did!!!

Of course, there was and always is a lot more to any bass capture, let alone those as euphoric as this. Yes, our job (both my 2nd Guide Joe and I) at South Devon Bass Guide is to teach people how to choose the right lure for a wide range of situations and environments, and to then instruct them in their use – how to retrieve or work them essentially.

When it all comes together, I cannot tell you how fantastic it makes you feel as their guide. Honestly, although I have achieved many things within the bass lure fishing arena, assisting lovely people to catch lovely bass is the absolute pinnacle – something Joe is relishing himself, with some excellent client catches that will follow this post.

70cm of prime early-autumn bass. Do not let anyone tell you that you require clear water to catch bass on lures!

As promised, and back by popular demand (from what I understand from my readers and listeners!) the Audio Clip below provides a thorough insight into the type of location and the conditions we faced, as well as the describing the moments when Neil’s 70cm and 63cm bass struck. The battles, the releases, and of course the banter that ensued with his fellow 3 Day Package clients!

As mentioned in the Audio Clip, Jud, Rich, and Neil had all utilised a variety of lure types during this session prior to the Sleeper Craws being released from their packaging. And it was while he was still in a state of shock that his second beautiful bass came knocking.

Neil’s rather chunky and very dark-backed 63cm bass, landed 45 minutes after his momentous 70! As you would have heard, he is the first client to land a 60 and a 70 within the same session in daylight with me at South Devon Bass Guide Ltd.

To learn more about how to catch bass on lures, and how to choose which lure to attach over another within all of the environments and conditions in which you will encounter this spellbinding species, my three books will undoubtedly help.
