Isn’t that the guy who landed the mammoth 69cm bass from a couple of blog posts back you may ask? And yes, it is indeed Ben, who not only has added another centimetre to his Personal Best bass, but it is also his first ever bass landed on what has been a newfangled lure for both my clients and I over the past 18 months or so – the Megabass Sleeper Craw.
What a story then – one that seems even more remarkable when you consider that not only did Ben hook and land this very special bass from within a couple of inches of water, but that he achieved it on what was the 3rd cast of the first guiding session I completed following my fabulous two week family holiday.
Of course, there was and is a lot more to this account than meets the eye. The planning for the session, the circumstances surrounding how and why Ben even ended up standing where he ‘sight-fished’ this absolutely stunning fish, in addition to the hours he has placed into this method on his marks down in Cornwall following his previous guided sessions with me spanning back into last autumn.
