My Client Catches – Quite Simply – A Beast…!

I am going to keep this blog post extremely simple, primarily because I hope that the Audio Clip does justice to everything that was special about one of my regular clients’ new Personal Best bass at 69cm. Many Congratulations Ben!

A mammoth bass, tamed by the Major Craft Seabass Custom 88ML 6-32g Marc Cowling Edition

An Albie Snax. You’ve just got to love these lures! What’s more, it is especially satisfying for me, as a professional guide of 8 years now would you believe, to see them making something of a comeback!

What’s more, to witness ‘The Snax’ accounting for bass of this size out on the open coastal beaches and reef systems of south Devon brings back some wonderful memories – not least, bounding across the shingle with the beam of the headlight filling my face and mouth with sand flies!

A mangled Albie Snax!

As you’ll hear in the Audio Clip below, my client Ben had never really given this lure type any real water time. However, by the end of the night he had routed out his only remaining packet from out of the bottom of the boot of his car, ready for an assault on the Cornish bass!

An animal! It is also the largest bass we’ve landed from the open coast at South Devon Bass Guide for quite some time which is very pleasing to see.

To listen to how this brilliant session unfolded you can hit PLAY on the Audio Clip below:

I hope you enjoyed that one! Nothing from me for a couple of weeks now I’m afraid as I’ll be heading off on holiday in about 8 hours!!

Whether you are new to this branch of the sport, or indeed, if you are simply looking to improve your skill set with a view to becoming a more consistent bass lure angler, then my books will help. With a mixture of real-life stories and events, coupled with a systematic, scientific, and analytic process, these books catalogue my personal journey in relation to learning as much as possible about ‘How To’ catch this wonderful species.
