Every so often a lure comes along that, although appears to be very similar to what is already out there on initial inspection (in the Tackle Shop or online) it is only when you see them in the flesh that you understand why it is potentially ‘better’ than what you’re currently using to achieve the same objective…
In the case above, this is a lure that represents a staple bass prey item, the humble sandeel. Therefore, enter the arena the Westin SBASS Sandy Fixed from their newly formed, and soon to be growing SBASS Range…

Enhancement
I will elaborating on the virtues of the Sandy Fixed on future posts, as my clients have been consistently catching bass on them since April and up until last night (mid-July). But for now, I’ll just touch on the reasons why, for me, they are an enhancement on what I was previously using – which are:
- They cast, and consistently so, like bullets.
- The finish and attention to detail is incredible.
- In my opinion (and that of my clients who have utilisued them) the slalom-like action is more sandeel-esque than its rivals.

Matt’s 60cm Bass
What is significant about my client Matt’s 60cm bass (above and below) is that although we have caught a number of bass in darkness on these lures, Matt’s fish is by far and away the largest we have landed on them at South Devon Bass Guide – and it was in full daylight as you can see.

You have to say then, that in order to ‘hoodwink’ such a magnificent creature within a setting of some exceptionally clear and calm water, the lure needs to be ‘looking and acting’ like the real thing – which is the greatest compliment I can pay the Westin SBASS Sandy Fixed.
