It was as if by ‘magic’ how the bass suddenly appeared during this spectacularly beautiful evening out on the south Devon coastline. And as ever, I have a theory as to ‘why’ this occurred that you can listen to, alongside how the events unfolded for my client (Ryan) as the Moon rose and the water level dropped…

The OSP Dolive Stick
But before you get to the Audio Clip, a quick shout out to what is currently (watch this space!) the benchmark in regards to soft plastic ‘Twitch Baits’ – the OSP Dolive Stick. They cast brilliantly for their size and malleable properties, and they ‘work’ on nothing more than a straight/linear retrieve, or indeed when you’re gently twitching and pausing them, as they perform what I routinely describe as an ‘oblivious fish’ routine.

I believe their simplicity and ease of use is a definite attribute when it comes to working and retrieving these lures, with both the 4.5″ and 6″ versions rigged onto either a 4/0 2g, or 6/0 3g weedless weighted hook accounting for a fair few bass for my clients of late…

To listen to why I asked Ryan to attach the 6″ OSP Dolive Stick, as well as the events surrounding this capture and two others he achieved in short succession out under the Moon, you can listen to the Audio Clip below:
