My Client Catches – Creature Confidence

Yeah!!! Fish!!! The ‘shout’ that always sees me running, clambering, wading, or sludging through the mud to get to my client with my trusty Westin net in hand – although on this occasion my client (Michael) simply needed to drag out his prize at a range of 10cm as you’ll read and hear!

I think catching a bass on any lure type that is ‘new’ to the angler is a noteworthy, special, or seminal event to be honest. But when it comes to essentially ‘dragging’ a crawfish/crab imitation across the seabed, interspersed with purposeful pauses (you can read about and listen to all of the catches I achieved over what was a quite a remarkable winter on my Marc Cowling – Bass Lure Fishing website/blog) then until you receive that inimitable ‘tap’, or even better, witness that dark, torpedo-shaped mass appear before you to simply engulf the lure, you never quite believe it’ll happen…

A very, very happy Michael! Note my footprints behind him as I sprinted (stumbled) through the thick mud to get to him!

Michael is a very good all-round bass lure angler who you probably recognise from many of my previous yearly galleries. But as he hadn’t yet experienced fishing in anger with the Megabass Sleeper Craws that he’d assembled over the winter, upon arriving here in south Devon all the way from ‘Bonnie Scotland’, he informed me that achieving a ‘creature-caught-bass’ was at the top of his ‘to be accomplished’ list…

So, to listen to how this brilliant capture came to be (and trust me when I say it is quite astonishing if you’ve never witnessed it) then please do hit ‘Play’ on the Audio Clip I have recorded below:
