3 Day Package – More dates for 2018 released

3 Day Package – More dates for 2018 released

As promised!

The overall enjoyment and success of my 3 Day/3 Client/3 Nights Accommodation ‘taster packages’ that I completed last month has prompted me release a crop of further dates to be completed in August, September, October and November of this year.

The price is £499 per person.

The dates are:

  • 14 – 16 August
  • 28 – 30 August
  • 16 – 18 September
  • 30 September – 2 October
  • 14 – 16 October
  • 29 – 31 October
  • 4 – 6 November
  • 11 – 13 November

If you are interested in any of the dates above please do not hesitate to contact me via my Contact Me page here or by using the Contact Form at the bottom of this Blog Post.  I have attempted to answer the questions I’ve previously received in relation to these packages (below) however, if there is anything else you wish to ask, then please do get in touch:

1.    I don’t have any equipment – can I still come along?

Yes, of course. I have modern lure rods, reels, waders (rubber and neoprene not breathable) and lures specifically for my clients to use *loses/damage will be charged at cost*

2.    Where is the accommodation and what is it like?

All my ‘package’ clients will be accommodated at the Chillington House B&B Hotel in my home village of Chillington, Devon. The reviews can be found here at TripAdvisor and Booking.com

3.    I don’t know the area therefore, once I’m at the B&B, will I need to drive anywhere else?

No, not at all. I completely appreciate that many of my clients would have driven a long way to be here therefore, I will meet you at the accommodation and drive you ‘to and from’ the fishing marks for each of the sessions we complete. Furthermore, there is a Post Office and a superb Country Pub (Bear and Blacksmith) whose reviews can be found here – both within a 2 minute walk.

4.    Who much actual fishing will we complete during the 3 days, and when?

You will spend 24 hours actually fishing over the period you are with me, broken down into 6x 4 hour sessions. Moreover, the dates I have chosen will enable me to guide you during daylight and darkness (sessions are completed from beaches at night for obvious safety reasons).

5.    I am a complete novice – are these sessions for me?

In short, yes. My time will always be split evenly between each angler, regardless of their levels of ability or previous experience. Prior to booking, I will ask each prospective client what it is they would like to learn from these 3 days, so that I can cater the sessions towards you, as an individual.

6.    Can I come as a ‘singleton’ or do I need to persuade two people to come along?

Yes, no problem at all! I can completely appreciate that it isn’t easy to coordinate time off work, arranging childcare etc. in order to be able to spend 3 days away from home bass lure fishing in south Devon. Additionally, if you are coming alone, then I will do my utmost to place you with anglers of similar levels of fitness and ability *easier to achieve if you’re flexible on the dates*

7.    How much deposit do I need to pay and is there any paperwork to complete?

A deposit of £200 is required to confirm your place on one of these sessions. The remaining balance can be transferred to my account prior to, or during your stay. If cash is involved a receipt will be issued for HMRC purposes.

In regards to paperwork, I ask all of my clients to read my Health & Safety Brief, complete a short Client Booking Form (so I can ascertain experience, what you’d like to learn and what equipment you may need to use of mine) in addition to signing an Insurance Disclaimer (which validates my Public Liability Insurance) and a Data Protection Form (required by law).

The reviews

Here is a snapshot of the comments and reviews I have received from the clients who partook in last months ‘taster package deal’ sessions (these reviews were sent directly to my South Devon Bass Guide Facebook page here:

Three day fishing and B&B package.
I booked three days fishing and B&B with Marc after following him via facebook and his blogs and this was the first time I had ever booked a guided trip. From my very first contact Marc could not have been more helpful and approachable and I quickly booked a place for myself and a friend. We were given all of the info we needed to plan for the trip and, having explained that we would put ourselves totally in his expert hands, Marc offered to provide us with all of the tackle and kit we would need along with some very handy advice on clothing etc.to make the experience more comfortable. One of the first things Marc asked was what we wanted to learn and experience and throughout the three days he tailored the fishing around us, imparting knowledge, offering hints tips and advice and encouraging us with his highly infectious enthusiasm. We fished our socks off and Marc pulled out all the stops to give us the very best opportunity of catching whilst also showing us a variety of different techniques, lures, and locations in differing conditions whilst imparting his years of hard learned knowledge. Marc will not simply ‘put you on the fish’ he will teach you how, why and where – a very rare thing indeed. Was it fun? Look at our photo’s on the blog! Within minutes of meeting we were laughing and joking like old friends, I came away much more confident in my own fishing and I am already looking to book more sessions with Marc.

Bass caught on an OSP DoLive Stick
I got back from a 3 night package with Marc about a week ago and am still buzzing. I learnt a lot from Marc about field craft and where to fish in places i never would have tried before. The package was just great from the super B&B to being picked up and driven to various marks as well as Marc being a top bloke. Thanks again. I will definitely be booking up again.

Large seabass from south Devon
The most amazing three days fishing! Marc is a great guy who really knows what he’s talking about. But he’s also good at putting his knowledge into words, I learnt so much about finding new marks at home and what lures to try. Before my three days with Marc had finished, I’d booked my next trip! If your sitting on the fence, go for it, you won’t regret it. The other great thing is the b&b that Marc had organised was perfect, clean, comfortable and great breakfast. Thanks Marc, can’t wait to come back….

Big bass south devon guide
My father and I have recently returned from South Devon where we spent two days fishing for Bass guided by the knowledgeable Marc Cowling. We had booked a package deal with Marc, which included 2 nights accommodation at the excellent Chillington House B&B. We had previously informed Marc that my father’s knees weren’t great and that he would struggle on challenging terrain. We needn’t have worried, Marc was able to draw upon his extensive experience and local knowledge to pick ideal fishing locations for us. Marc’s passion for this angling is infectious and he has a great tutoring style that allowed both my father and I to quickly learn the techniques required to improve our chances of landing some sizeable bass. We had a wonderful time fishing at four different places each for four hours including two night sessions. The scenery along the South Devon coast is stunning and enhances your enjoyment. We started slowly returning a nil count at our first session, improved to a small catch at our first nighter and then took two small ones the following morning. For our last night session Marc excelled himself. By this time my father’s knee was starting to pain him and Marc chose a specific location that he would not normally use but would be easier for my Dad and it was here that the highlight of our trip was landed, a 69cm beauty! An incredibly satisfying way to end our two days thanks to Marc. Highly recommend.

Bass caught in very shallow water
Marc has a real passion for bass fishing and combined with his excellent local knowledge and contacts (he introduced a great B+B) he is undoubtedly the best guide you could possibly hope for. He put us onto fish the first evening which was meant to be a practice run! All I all, I cannot recommend him enough and you won’t be disappointed – a rare find and yes Devon is glorious, stunning scenery and unbelievable coves and bays that only Marc could seek out! The highlight of the break was night fishing in a full Moon lit bay with Keith catching a 4lb+ bass and me with a 2½lb fish. Unforgettable!!!
